Councilwoman sues Chronicle, columnist
Oakland City Councilwoman Desley Brooks has sued The Chronicle and columnist Chip Johnson, saying she was defamed by a piece reporting that she was suspected in 2006 of receiving kickbacks for hiring a city employee.
